The Surgery Interest Group at UCSF offers many opportunities for students to learn about the field of surgery. Surgical subspecialty lectures by faculty surgeons are held twice per month and open to all students. Throughout the year, SIG electives introduce students to basic surgical techniques and the operating room experience, as well as offer students opportunities to meet surgical patients and follow them longitudinally. All electives, skills sessions, and social gatherings are open to students from the School of Medicine.
